Crosby Beach
Gormley's installation "Another Place," features 100 cast iron sculptures of the artist's own body spread out across Crosby Beach in England, a beach well known to Edmund from his school days. Each figure, standing stoically against the backdrop of the Irish Sea and often grey sky, creates a mesmerizing scene that prompts introspection and reflection in the viewer and photographer. The added juxtaposition of the human form against the modern elements of power generation enhances the feeling of isolation and insignificance.
